Arrested for alleged drug use
In April 2019, an actor surnamed ‘Yang’ was reportedly arrested on suspicion of drug use. Police were called to the scene at around 3 a.m. KST after receiving a 112 call indicating that Yang was running on a street close to a hotel in Seoul’s Nonhyeon neighborhood, a South Korean news agency reported. Yang was taken to the police station after showing strange behavior such as talking nonsense. According to sources, Yang tested positive for filopone, a type of methamphetamine, during a drug test. Yang’s drug use was thoroughly investigated by the Gangnam Police Station, which also monitored Yang’s drug purchasing intermediaries and company. Yang reportedly recently starred in famous films and dramas on public broadcasting networks (SBS, KBS, MBC). Following the news, the media inquired about the role of various actors surnamed ‘Yang’ in the case. Yang Dong-geun’s agency responded to the controversy by saying,
