In a colorful cosplay, the cosplayer animates Psylocke’s Jim Lee-designed outfit as she prepares a sword. The cosplay features a ’90s-inspired design featuring one of the most important heroes in the X-Men lineup of the hugely popular era.
Despite Psylocke’s complicated history in the comics, he’s still a favorite with X-Men readers. Captain England’s sister Betsy Braddock joins the X-Men x Men #213, telepathic race as a key member of the team. However, in the campaigns of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee x Men, Psylocke’s body was swapped with a ninja named Kwannon – because the hero had been in her body for years. Braddock abandoned her Psylocke personality after she was killed and resurrected in her original body. Braddock will be Marvel’s new Captain Britain, while Kwannon continues to fight as Psylocke. With his powers, Braddock is able to create a psionic knife and possesses other psionic-related abilities.
On his Instagram account, @Hendoart shares his thoughts on the X-Men heroes. The costume features Psylocke’s most iconic look, as the cosplay features the hero’s colorful jumpsuit with a red belt around his waist. No Psylocke outfit is complete without arm and leg straps, long purple gloves, and tights. @Hendoart’s purple hair accentuated the look as she posed and reached for her sword behind her back.
Psylocke has gone through a number of costume changes over the years. Her original look has long been criticized for being too reckless and very similar to the original Marvel’s Elektra costume. Even actress Olivia Munn, who plays Psylocke in the movie X-Men: Apocalypse Notice how uncomfortable and impractical it is to wear. However, despite its impracticality, it is still a fan favorite as it is the costume of the heroine of her most famous story with the X-Men. So while the costume might be a bit outdated now, it’s still an important part of Psylocke’s formative personality.
All in all, whether you love or hate the original cosplay-inspired outfits, @Hedonart did a great job bringing the iconic Psylocke costume to life. Her cosplay is very similar to the manga, it feels like it was ripped from the pages of a 90s book x Men adventure.
