Why Daniel Sharman’s Isaac Left Teen Wolf After Season 3

Daniel Sharman, who played Isaac Lahey on Teen Wolf, left the show after season 3 for one main reason. Daniel Sharman played Isaac Lahey across two seasons of Teen Wolf. Isaac initially volunteered to become a part of Derek’s (Tyler Hoechlin’s) wolf pack to stand up to his abusive father, but later questioned Derek’s leadership choices and as such became a member of Scott’s (Tyler Posey) pack instead. Though Isaac Lahey’s character had a great development arc, including a brief romance with Crystal Reed’s character Allison Argent, Daniel Sharman decided to leave the show after Teen Wolf season 3 anyway.

Other characters who left Teen Wolf after season 3 include Allison Argent, as Crystal Reed wanted to pursue other career and creative options. Her character was killed by an Oni warrior after being stabbed in the chest – or so was thought, as she will be returning for the upcoming Teen Wolf revival movie. Aidan Steiner, as portrayed by Max Carver, also died at the hands of an Oni, just like Allison. Considering Isaac left after season 3 as well, it’s interesting to note that he was the one character who wasn’t killed on the show at that time.

MTV’s Teen Wolf executive producer Jeff Davis revealed that Daniel Sharman wanted to leave the show to pursue other creative endeavors, much like co-star Crystal Reed [via E! News]. Sharman wanted a shot at auditions during pilot season, as well as auditioning for movies and generally trying something new. Interestingly enough, Davis also revealed that Sharman had specifically requested for Isaac not to be killed off in the show, leaving the opportunity to return should the right storyline ever arise. Either way, the reasons for his departure can be traced back to professional ambitions, rather than any major issues behind the scenes.

What Happened To Isaac Lahey In Teen Wolf

Allison’s death at the end of Teen Wolf season 3 affected all the main characters drastically, including Isaac Lahey. He’d grown closer with her throughout season 3, with a romance slowly brewing between the two. After she died, Isaac and Allison’s father Chris Argent (JR Bourne) decided to leave Beacon Hills and head to France, where the Argent family originated, so that they could both take the time to heal emotionally from Allison’s death on Teen Wolf. Though Isaac sadly never returned to the show, Chris Argent did, later on in season 4.

Will Isaac Be In The Teen Wolf Movie?

As Isaac was never officially killed off on the show, he could make a surprise appearance in the upcoming Teen Wolf revival movie. However, a cast list has been made public, which includes the return of many main characters, including Tyler Posey’s Scott McCall, Holland Roden’s Lydia Martin, Shelley Hennig’s Malia Tate, Tyler Hoechlin’s Derek Hale, and Dylan Sprayberry’s Liam Dunbar, as well as Chris Argent. Considering Daniel Sharman’s name is not currently on the list of returning cast members, it’s impossible to say for certain whether he will return. After all, there’s still hope that Dylan O’Brien’s character Stiles will make an unexpected appearance as well.

Though Daniel Sharman was never a series regular, he did appear in every episode of Teen Wolf season 3 and had a lasting impact on Scott’s family and pack, as well as what remained of the Argent family. The Teen Wolf movie promises an evil like Scott’s pack has never faced before, and as such, they’ll need all the help they can get. In any case, Isaac Lahey’s return to the world of Teen Wolf would certainly be a welcome surprise.
