“The show uncovers Muslim women that society refuses to acknowledge and uncovers a very personal and specific experience that we haven’t seen on screen yet,” she said. “As a British Pakistani girl growing up in London, my experience is unlike anything I’ve seen on British television.”
The show portrays the struggle of a Muslim teenager: on the one hand, he wants to honor his family’s traditions; on the other, they want to experiment with drugs and sex, like other teenagers.
