The upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s beloved 1989 animated film opens in theaters on Friday (May 26) starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric and Javier Bardem as King Triton. . .
While Melissa McCarthy will play Ursula in her octopus form, she won’t be playing Vanessa, the human persona Ursula transforms into and uses Ariel’s stolen voice to hypnotize Prince Eric.
Instead, Vanessa will be played by Jessica Alexander.
