Kelly Slater described her Pipe Masters win in February 2022 as the “best win of her life”. Her previous win came six years ago, which is perhaps the longest Kelly has gone without a win in her professional career. Her victory in Hawaii represented the 56th title of her career, which she won a week shy of her 50th birthday.
Slater is still in top physical condition and may continue to surf at the highest level for a considerable future. Judging by the tears of joy that rolled down her cheeks after that win, surfing still means a lot to Kelly.

Kelly and Kalani have dated for 15 years and are considering getting married
Kelly and Kalani met at a trade show in San Diego over a decade and a half ago. The couple worked for subsidiaries of a company, but had never crossed paths before that show. “Time really stood still,” Kalani spoke with bensinger graham in October 2019 about seeing Kelly for the first time.
The couple became fast friends and fell in love before they officially started dating. Kalani explained that she was initially confused after Kelly confessed her love for her, but after letting the news sink in, Kalani acknowledged that she felt the same way about him.
Kalani and Kelly went on their first date in France and have been together ever since. Fifteen years is a long time, and most couples would be married with children by then. Marriage is an option for Kelly and Kalani, but for now their careers take precedence.

Kalani Miller was born and raised in San Clemente, California. She grew up in a family of four who loved to surf.
Miller occasionally posts about her family on social media. On January 9, 2021 she posted on Instagram that her love and appreciation for the ocean comes from her father. “He is the most loving father you could wish for and today we celebrate him,” Miller wrote.
In October 2021, he wished his mom a happy birthday via Instagram. He referred to mom as “the center of our universe” before adding:
“Our mom is the perfect combination of love, patience, understanding, kindness, zen, laughter, strength, and the perfect mom. If you are lucky enough to meet her, you can attest to the above. I love you mommy!!”

Slater regrets not spending time with her daughter growing up
Kelly Slater regrets not being there enough for her daughter, Taylor Slater, when she was little. slater said bensinger graham he was busy traveling to surf while Taylor was growing up.
Therefore, Taylor was raised almost exclusively by her mother. Slater was having trouble flying home between competitions, and it was unreasonable for Taylor to follow her father around the world.
“The hardest part for me is that my daughter feels like she doesn’t have a dad there all the time,” Kelly said. “I know that was especially difficult for her when she was younger.”
Slater added that she feels a bit guilty for not taking a break or ending her career to raise her daughter. “Children are just innocent, so they need the adults around them to be physically present at all times; I think that’s probably the hardest thing for me in hindsight,” Kelly said.
