Ciao House, Food Network’s next culinary competition, will bring ten rising chefs to Italy to compete on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The contestants in the upcoming culinary challenge will live and compete in a beautiful Italian villa, managing the competition as individuals and as a team. The ultimate goal is to be the ultimate chef, as one is eliminated every week. Mahoney, a Mirate employee from Los Angeles, is expected to compete in the upcoming tournament.
Ciao House participant Jess Mahoney works at a fish restaurant.
Jess Mahoney, who works in the kitchen of Mirate’s Los Feliz, is one of ten contestants who will take part in the culinary reality show. She started her career at seafood restaurant Son of a Gun, where she prepares scallops with gin and citrus in vegetable oil. Vegan Skateboard Butcher spoke to LA Weekly about his presence at the next tournament. The Ciao House candidate says Tuscany resembles California in many ways. She found that the Italian city’s geography reminded her of California, as well as the city’s passion for fresh food that she had witnessed over and over again. Jess went on to say:
“We’re at the pinnacle of knowing where our food comes from and how animals are treated.” Italy likes to keep things as close to home as possible.
The Ciao House participant went on to say that she knew the show was a reality show, but that it wasn’t “one of those hot looking people in a bikini.” Therefore, he intends to accumulate a significant following on social networks. She said people in her industry will watch the show because she wants to stay true to herself and not just focus on winning. Jess compares herself to a sponge and says she hopes to learn during her time on the show.
She went on to say that her favorite part of the Food Network show is meeting and working with so many different chefs. She went on to say that Americans associate Italian cuisine with “high-carb bowls with sizzling tomato sauce on top.” However, the show is much more than that as it showcases a wide variety of Tuscan cuisine.
