Baltimore Orioles icon Brooks Robinson passed away suddenly on September 26, 2023. His daughter Diana Farley and several family members survive the baseball legend. Robinson’s family and the Baltimore Orioles issued a joint statement about the tragic news Tuesday night. According to the statement,
“We are deeply sorry to inform you of the passing of Brooks Robinson. He has been a member of our Orioles family since 1955 and will continue to make an impact on our club, our community and the game of baseball.”
Brooks Calbert Robinson Jr. (May 18, 1937 – September 26, 2023) was an American baseball legend. He was known as “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” or “Mr. Hoover,” and established himself as the best defensive third baseman in Major League Baseball history. Robinson’s impact on the game was immense during his long career with the Baltimore Orioles from 1955 to in 1977.
His defensive skills created records that have stood the test of time, including an incredible 16 consecutive Gold Gloves. He was a driving factor in the Orioles’ rebirth, contributing to four AL pennants and two World Series championships along with his stellar play. Robinson’s status as a baseball hero was further cemented when he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983, becoming only the third baseman to do so in his first year of eligibility.
Who is Diana Farley? Daughter of Brooks Robinson
Diana Farley is the daughter of the famous Brooks Robinson and Constance Louise “Connie” Butcher. Her parents also had three other children, Brooks David, Christopher and Michael Robinson, in addition to Diana. Diana’s parents originally met on an Orioles team plane in 1959. Constance was working as a flight attendant for United Airlines at the time, and their chance meeting happened on a trip from Kansas City to Boston.

Diana is married to Wayne Farley, with whom she has three children: two girls and a boy, Grant Farley. Grant is now pursuing a degree in political economy at Duke University. He also plays college football there. Previously, the young athlete attended the elite Gilman School. Diana lives in seclusion, avoiding the public spotlight. That’s why nothing is known about her.

Despite Diana’s deliberate withdrawal from the public eye, those who knew her recognized that she had a solid relationship with her father. Diana and her son Grant were by their father’s side when he was discharged from hospital in April 2011, providing support during the difficult period.
