Darius Daulton, the father of Keke Palmer’s son, became a public enemy on Twitter for criticizing the outfit he wore to an Usher concert, where the singer serenaded him. Daulton defended his comments: “We live in a generation where a family man doesn’t want his wife and the mother of his children to show their butts to please others and tell him how much he hates him.”
Darius Daulton’s father is African American and his mother is Panamanian.
Darius Daulton was born in July 1994 to a Panamanian mother and an African-American father. Daulton’s mother is of Jamaican, Panamanian, and Native American descent, and his father is of Germanic and African-American descent.
Daulton grew up with his older brother, Sarunas Jackson, who told him People that the Jackson family is multicultural. “I am a first-generation American on my mother’s side. I am working to obtain my citizenship in Panama, so I am very connected to the culture, just like my little brother Darius,” said Sarunas.
Sarunas and Daulton identify as Afro-Latinidad, Latinos with partial African ancestry. Daulton’s brother said that growing up, he identified more with the black side of him than the Latino side of him. He stated:
“Growing up, the black community was more accepting of me. The Mexican kids weren’t as accepting of me, I wasn’t necessarily someone they could identify with, so they weren’t trying to hang out with me or anything like that, so I wasn’t with the other Latinos.”
Daulton and Keke’s relationship status remains unclear. Palmer responded to the criticism by posting photos of her outfit and writing on Instagram that she wished she had taken more photos. The couple no longer follow each other on Instagram and Daulton deleted his Twitter account.
Keke said that she hates her love life being broadcast on social media. “I don’t really do relationship stuff online, mainly because I don’t know how I would do it without looking corny or something, you know?” Keke said harper’s bazaar. “Yes, I am one hundred percent authentic, but there are things that I save for family and friends.”
