Johnson began his on-air career in 2005 as a reporter and weekend evening anchor for NBC station KNDO/KNDU-TV in Yakima/Tri-Cities, Washington. He later served as a reporter and late-night anchor for NBC station KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, Utah.
