WhatsApp Down: Report outages in apps and web

Depor MX Writing July 19, 2023 15:44 m.

What’s up Inactive. In the afternoon (in Latin America), the world’s most important mobile messaging service was reported down, as both the mobile and web versions of the service were down. This problem went on for a few minutes and neither texting nor calling through the app worked. At the moment, the cause behind WhatsApp’s demise is still unknown.

WhatsApp was positioned among the top searches within minutes, not by downloads. Users started to experience errors in sending messages or calls, which affected their daily life. It should be noted that when an app crashes, it usually happens in some regions or around the world, as happened on this occasion.

The first reports are from users who have tried to send messages, but they are not delivered and still hang. They also don’t upload photos, videos or calls.

One of the first errors reported by the DownDetector portal, which details the problem WhatsApp encountered this Wednesday, July 19. The error started appearing at 15:00 (Peruvian time) and increased half an hour later, which is the critical point at which all users start experiencing outages on their WhatsApp service.

Currently, Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, has not reported any outages experienced by their app and users are still unable to access their chats. One of the alternatives in this case, as happened before with the WhatsApp problem, is to use Telegram, one of the most used instant messaging apps in the world.
