Social DMs are all over the web as a way to earn free money on social networks – but is this app legit or just another disturbing scam? Online scams have been a problem since the advent of the internet. Some people are determined to extort money and personal information from others, and unfortunately, Internet scams make these easier than ever.
Even as awareness of online scams grows, they are still common. Visitors are required to sign up for a social DM account, invite friends and family to do the same, and then withdraw their earnings from apps like PayPal and Venmo. New users receive a signup bonus of $40 for joining and $15 for each new user they invite.
Is social DM a scam?
If that sounds too good to be true, that’s because it is. Basically, Social DM is nothing more than a referral scam. Someone joins the site, invites others to join, those people are supposed to invite more users, etc. It’s an ongoing process of people joining Social DMs and suggesting others to do the same. . It drives a lot of traffic to Social DM’s website and Social DM gets people’s names and email addresses. Ultimately, it’s a never-ending cycle of people posting opinions and personal information on social DMs in hopes of making a few bucks.

Social DM lets the user know that their payment has been approved for review, the Social DM team will review it successfully and then schedule delivery. However, nothing happened after that. The day when Social DM said it would pay users came and went without any sign of payment.
Even if a site like Social DM doesn’t ask for money/payment, that doesn’t mean it’s not a scam. Some scams ask for money, but others, such as Social DM, are phishing scams that aim to collect as much personal data as possible. It’s all too easy to pass on your name and email to a website that promises to make $500 a day, and that’s what Social DM is based on. So it’s best to avoid direct social media messages, stay away from your friends/family and get on with your day.
