Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Scheme: On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a special scheme for artisans and craftsmen in the country. The PM Vishwakarma scheme will provide financial assistance to artisans for skill development and business growth. Prime Minister Modi while launching the program said, “The government under the PM Vishwakrma scheme will provide a loan of up to Rs. 3 lakh without any collateral. The Government of India has decided that the loan of Rs. 1 lakh will be given in two installments, first It will be given 1 lakh rupees and later a loan of 2 lakh rupees will be given to Vishwakarma partners.”

What is Vishwakarma Scheme?
Vishwakarma Scheme is a newly launched scheme of Central Govt. Its goal is financial assistance to artisans and craftsmen. This Rs 13,000 crore scheme will help unorganized sector workers to upgrade their skills. Under this scheme, artisans can avail loans up to 3 lacs at very nominal rates. Also, registered Vishwakarma workers get skill training programs, scholarships and unique identification.

- Bank account details
- Income certificate

What are the benefits of Vishwakarma Scheme?
The primary objective of the scheme is to improve the quality and reach of artisan products and services, as well as to ensure their integration into local and global value chains. Five lakh families will be covered in the first year, with a total of 30 lakh families covered over the five-year period from FY24 to FY28. The numerous benefits of the Vishwakarma scheme are:
- All potential beneficiaries would be enrolled free of charge through common service centers using PM Vishwakarma’s biometrics-based portal.
- Enrolled artisans will receive recognition in the form of a PM Vishwakarma certificate and identity card, apart from skill enhancement through basic and advanced training.
- Beneficiaries of PM Vishwakarma Scheme will get a reward of 15,000 tools, collateral-free credit support up to ₹ 1 lakh (first tranche) and ₹ 2 lakh (second tranche) at a concessional interest rate of 5%, digital transaction incentive and marketing assistance.

How to Apply Online for Vishwakarma Scheme?
- Visit the official portal of Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana 2023.
- Register with your Aadhar card and mobile number. Complete PM Vishwakarma Yojana
- Fill out the registration form with all your personal information.
- Download PM Vishwakarma Digital ID and Certificate for future use.
- Now select the required schema components and upload the required document.
- Submit the application form for review.
- You will receive an approval text or email once all information has been verified.
Collateral-free loans under the PM Vishwakarma scheme will be disbursed through commercial banks, regional rural banks and other financial institutions. Government of India also intends to create PM Vishwakarma Yojana Mobile App for registration or at their local CSC center.
