Wanindu Hasaranga is a Sri Lankan cricketer who has played many tournaments for Sri Lanka and has made many records with his bowling skills. He has played in many leagues in different countries and is considered one of the best fielders Sri Lanka has ever produced.

Pinnaduwege Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva aka Wanindu Hasaranga was born on Tuesday, 29 July 1997 (age 26 years; as in 2023) in Galle, Sri Lanka. His zodiac sign is Leo. He attended Richmond College, Galle for his schooling where he started playing cricket at the age of twelve. He took part in cricket practice for the under-13 team and started out as a fast bowler. Due to his interest in fielding, he later became a good all-rounder. His name rose in inter-school cricket in 2014 when he took 12 catches in a match. He later met coach Lamkal de Silva who was impressed by Hasaranga’s good arm speed and convinced him to become a leg spin bowler. He later played in several inter-school tournaments, including the Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament in 2017. Later he made his career in cricket.

He played his first domestic first-class match for Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club (SLPACC) on 26 February 2016 against Bloomfield; He was out without taking a wicket; However, he shone with the bat and scored 87 runs in the first innings and 6 runs in the second innings. He played his first domestic ODI for SLPACC against Tamil Union in the AIA Premier Limited Overs Tournament on 30 November 2015. He later played for Colombo, Dambulla and Galle in various domestic tournaments. On 19 June 2023, in the 2023 World Cup Qualifier match against the United Arab Emirates, he took his first 5-wicket haul of 6 for 24.

He made his T20I debut against New Zealand in Pallekele, Sri Lanka on 1 September 2019 and took 2 wickets for 21 runs. On 29 July 2021, in a match against India, he took 4 wickets for 9 runs.

He made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2021 IPL season on 20 September 2021. RCB acquired him for Rs 10.75 crore in the auction for the 2022 IPL season. On 8 May 2022, in a match of the 2022 IPL season against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he took his first 5 wicket haul in the IPL by taking 5 wickets for 18 runs.
