Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri is an Indian politician from Karnataka. He is from BJP and was elected as the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in July 2019.

Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri was born on Monday, 10 July 1961 (age 58 years; as in 2019) in Sirsi, Karnataka. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He received his primary education from a local school in Karnataka. He studied B.Com from Karnataka University in Dharwad, Karnataka. When Vishweshwar was in college, he was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS.

livelihood
Vishweshwar’s tenure with the ABVP made him a member of the BJP. In 1991, he was appointed District Secretary of BJP. Ultimately he held a high position in BJP. In 1994, he contested and won the Karnataka Assembly elections from Ankola constituency in Karnataka. He was elected MLA. His work was appreciated by the people of his constituency and he was re-elected from Ankola constituency in 1999 and 2004. 
In the 2008 delimitation campaign, Ankola constituency was abolished. After this Visheshwar contested the elections from the newly formed Sirsi constituency and won. He was re-elected in 2013 and 2018. In 2008, he was appointed as the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of Karnataka in the BS Yediyurappa cabinet. In July 2018, HD Kumaraswamy’s coalition government failed in the trust vote and BJP came to power with BS Yediyurappa as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. On July 30, 2019, Vishweshwar’s name was proposed for the post of Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly. He was unanimously elected president.

Controversy
In July 2011, a campaign was underway in Karnataka to include the Bhagavad Gita in the curriculum of government schools in Karnataka. Vishweshwar was a cabinet minister at that time and supported the move. Many people were opposing this campaign to which Vishweshwar replied-
Those who oppose the teachings of Geeta should leave India.”
He faced a lot of criticism for this statement and was criticized a lot.
