In 2020, Vikraman was appointed as the state spokesperson of the Liberation Tigers Party. In an interview, Vikraman recalled an incident that led him to enter politics after working as a journalist and said,
During Covid, a woman contacted me on social media and appealed for help saying that her brother was unwell. He told me that his parents were quite old and lived abroad. She described it as a frustrating situation and asked if I could help her. As a journalist, I had a bunch of followers, and I tweeted about it. An ambulance was soon ready at their disposal and the state CM also responded to me. So, I used this attention I got in a productive way. But a single man with one ideology cannot take you far. To make things successful you need more people around you who have the same thoughts and ideology as you. I am someone who believes that the justice you get in the Legislative Assembly is more important than the justice you get in the court. Even if you cannot do something, you should get it done by people in power. It is the end result that matters.”

Sumant C. Raman accused of caste discrimination
Vikraman in November 2020 accused Tamil television anchor and sports commentator Sumanth C. Raman of abusing and discriminating against people based on their caste. Vikraman alleged that when he went to his house for an interview, he was refused a glass. Water is not available even after repeated requests. He posted on Twitter,
When I came to your house to interview you, you sent me back without even giving me a glass of water. When I myself asked you for it, you suggested me to get water from the watchman. Why so ??”
Sumant called his allegations baseless and apologized and demanded to withdraw his statement. Vikraman replied to his tweet, which read,
There were two cameramen with me at that time. Don’t threaten any journalist. Our truth will prevail.”

sexual harassment allegation
Reportedly, in April 2021, Vikraman was accused of sexually harassing a man for conducting an audition for a film. The victim alleged that Vikraman was a homosexual who called her to his place to take an audition but instead, molested her. The victim shared his experience on a meme page on Instagram, saying,
He called me to a house in the name of audition and made me act. Then he pushed me on the bed and sexually assaulted me. I couldn’t do anything at that time. Later his friends called and scolded him. He put my shirt in the cupboard and locked it. I had to struggle to get my shirt back from him. Later he requested me not to tell anyone about this incident and he would help me get opportunities in films. Then he blocked me. I could not do anything because many people told me that he had many political connections and knew many big people. They told me I wouldn’t be able to do anything with it.”
Commented as anti-Hindu
In June 2022, during a debate on the English news channel Times Now, Vikraman insulted the Hindu god Lord Krishna, and he made objectionable statements about Lord Krishna’s illegitimate relations with gopis (devotees of Krishna) in his youth. He said,
Krishna’s youthful life was full of illicit (immoral) love affairs with the women of Vrindavan. It was called Raasleela.”
The statement given by Vikraman was found objectionable by many people as it hurt their religious sentiments. He was called anti-Hindu for making such derogatory remarks on Hindu God. Hindu philosophy writer Rahul Ishwar objected to Vikraman’s statement and said,
Shri Krishna’s relationship with the Gopis was not illegal but a spiritual bond. Making such comments about Hindu Gods and Goddesses is nothing but Hinduphobia. In this way people try to belittle Hindu culture and beliefs. They make indecent and objectionable statements.
