Although, he and along with the other 2 senior officers, tried to make the landing strip operational. Finally, thanks to the efforts of him and 300 women, the landing strip was restored in 72 hours.
Later, the war ended successfully. The entire runway reconstruction operation was then named India’s Pearl Harbor Moment.
Later, the Prime Minister thanked the 300 women for their efforts. And the government gave them a group award of Rs 50,000.
Vijay Karnik – Career
On 26 May 1962, Vijay Karnik was assigned to the Indian Air Force. He therefore served as a squad leader in Bhuj during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
He fought in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965 and the Sino-Indian War of 1962. Therefore, he is known for his contribution to the Indo-Pakistan War. Vijay was posted to the 6th Squadron in Pune in 1967.
On October 1, 1985 he was promoted to Wing Commander. Later, he was retired from service on October 14, 1986. Therefore, a film has been made on the story of his life.
