Vidya Vox was born as ‘Vidya Iyer’ on Wednesday, 26 September 1990 (age 29 years; as in 2019) in Chennai. His zodiac sign is Libra.

At the age of five, he started learning Carnatic music. Her family moved to America when she was eight years old. She grew up in Virginia, USA. She earned a BSc with a major in Psychology and a minor in Biomedical Sciences from George Washington University and was planning to take the MCAT in 2012 to get into medical school. Besides, she was also working in a clinic. Amidst all this he decided to pursue a career in music. Later, she went to India for two years to learn Carnatic classical and western singing. He learned Carnatic music from DK Nagarajan, brother of DK Patammal.

Vidya collaborated with her sister, Vandana, and her boyfriend, Shankar in 2011 and gave voice to Shankar’s composition, Nee Nenandal, on her YouTube channel, The Shruti Box.
She performs regularly with Shankar’s band. She has performed at various events such as the White House, National Center for the Performing Arts (India), and Webster Hall and the Festival des Artes in Reunion Island, INK Women, Suriname, Dubai, and the Meru Concert Series in the Netherlands. He started his YouTube channel in 2014 and made his first video with Sia’s songs ‘Big Girls Cry’ and ‘Kabhi Jo Badal Barse;’ The video is no longer available due to copyright issues with Yash Raj Films. He has more than 6.50 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. Some of her popular covers include Love Me Like You Do|Hosanna, Closer|Kabira, Lean On|Jind Mahi, We Don’t Talk Anymore|Pani Da Rang, and Kuttanadan Punjayile (Famous Boat Song of Kerala).
His first album came in the year 2017 named ‘Kuthu Fire’.

- According to her, her father was very abusive towards her mother and was also very controlling. They instructed her family on what they should wear and what they should do. When he became too violent, his mother took away both him and his sister. However, because of this her music teacher refused to teach music to Vidya.
- Growing up in America was not easy for Vidya, as she was not accepted in school due to being an Indian.

The tension between the two cultures was something that frightened me.”
- During Vidya’s pre-med studies, she opened her own YouTube channel and started posting videos on it. After graduation, he decided to pursue music as his career.
