Uzma Kardar started her political journey in 1992 as a councilor of District Council, Lahore. On 15 August 2018, Uzma was elected as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, Pakistan from one of the seats reserved for women in the province. She was appointed as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Gender Mainstreaming (Women Development).

Expelled from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)

Reportedly, Uzma Kardar was expelled from the Imran Khan-ruled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party in 2020 after a controversial audio clip went viral in which she reportedly talked about the role of the military establishment in the government and commented on Prime Minister Imran Khan. and his third wife, Bushra Bibi Khan. Uzma was reportedly heard speaking about the importance of the military establishment in running the government in Pakistan and reportedly claiming that Bushra Bibi is possessed by a ‘jinn’ and decides the affairs of the Pakistan Cabinet, including the posting of senior officials. He has a lot of influence in doing this. In the controversial audio, Uzma Kardar reportedly said,

The establishment, the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan are moving together. “No government in Pakistan can run without the support of the military establishment.”
