Tyler Henry is a clairvoyant medium who stars in the Netflix series. Life after death with Tyler Henry. The series sees Henry offer closure to people who have suffered loss by connecting with his deceased loved ones. Henry rose to fame in January 2016 after the debut of Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry in the letter e! Television network.
The jury is out on whether Henry has psychic abilities. Some believe in his abilities, while others see him as a con man who preys on the afflicted and vulnerable.
Tyler’s mother, Theresa Koelewyn, is one of Tyler’s most supportive people. She has appeared in most of the episodes of her show and her story appears on Life after death with Tyler Henry.
Henry’s mother was allegedly raised by a convicted murderer who kidnapped her
“I want to know more about what happened to my mom’s family,” Henry says in his Netflix series. “She could have had a completely different life that was taken from her by this criminal.”
In 2019, Theresa learned that the woman who raised her, Stella Nestlé, was not her biological mother. Theresa said she was relieved to learn that she had no family relationship with the convicted con man and murderer.
Koelewyn claims that Stella took her away from her birth mother in New Orleans and scammed people out of their money. Additionally, Stella allegedly abused her children by beating them and locking them inside closets.
Stella then murdered the owner of the Fowler Motel, Judy Wang, and her boyfriend, Wai Lee. Shen then made his eighteen-year-old son Peter guilty of the murders by forcing him to help hide the bodies.
Peter says in the Netflix series that he obeyed Stella because the Bible told him to. He explains:
“I think my mom’s plan was to kill the owners and, uh, start running the hotel. [herself]. I trusted her. You obey your parents. I mean, that’s in the Bible. That’s all I knew. and drink [the] nominal value [of] that; hey, my family is in trouble, and look, I’d do whatever I have to to protect my family.”
Peter cooperated with the prosecution in exchange for a reduced charge of accessory to murder. Stella spent more than three decades in prison for the double murder and, according to her reports, she lives out her days in California.
Tyler helped Theresa locate her birth family in New Orleans. She regretted her lost time, but was grateful to have reconnected with her family.
Tyler’s father prefers to stay out of the spotlight
Tyler’s father, David G. Koelewyn, was raised by Barbara Anne and Henry Koelywn, an immigrant from the Netherlands. David and Theresa have been together since they were fifteen years old. The couple welcomed their only son, Tyler, in January 1996.
Unlike Theresa, David prefers to stay out of the spotlight. He resides in Hanford, California, and works as a tile contractor.
Henry maintains a close bond with his father, though David shows little interest in Henry’s craft. On Father’s Day 2019, Tyler wrote on Instagram:
“Today I remember not only how lucky I am to have a loving father, but also to be able to meet him in adulthood. It is a privilege to have a father who is someone I would like to be friends with. His love for his son was stronger than any of the “coming outs” he encountered as a father. Knowing that love was the most important thing, he allowed me to shine.
Tyler learned that he was psychic after seeing his grandmother’s death.
Tyler was ten years old when he watched his grandmother die. Henry supposedly felt differently, but the vision of his grandmother’s death when he was ten years old confirmed that he had a gift.
Henry told Ryan Seacrest that he was sure his sick grandmother would pass away. He informed his parents that the family needed to be at his bedside; however, the call confirming his grandmother’s death came shortly after his disclosure. Tyler said:
“As I was saying this to my mom, her phone rang, and when she picked up the phone, it was the news that my grandmother had just died and it was my dad calling my mom, so that whole instance changed everything. ”
