Ty Okada’s parents, Chris and Michelle Okada, are originally from Minnesota. The husband and wife have two athletic boys, one of whom is on the verge of making his NFL debut. Ty Okada, a 24-year-old Seattle Seahawks tight end, came to Montana State in 2017. The safety spent six seasons at Montana, where he was named to the All-Big Sky second team his senior year.
Okada was a multi-sport athlete in high school, participating in wrestling and baseball. He was the district’s offensive player of the year as a running back and earned all-conference honors in two other sports. It took Ty time to adjust to Montana. But eventually he discovered it. Okada went undrafted earlier this year but signed with the Seahawks. Ty’s sports career was not easy. After signing with the Seahawks, he was released in August but then re-signed to the practice squad. After overcoming several challenges, the young talent was finally promoted to the active roster.

Ty Okada’s parents, Chris and Michelle Okada, always pushed the Seahawks player to try other sports. After all, his father was an athlete at his peak. Chris Okada, an alumnus of Minnesota State University, studied business administration with a focus on marketing and finance. He excelled not only academically, but also as a swimmer.
Chris played football in Minnesota, but after graduation he decided to put his sports career on hold. In 1995, he entered the business sector as a credit officer. After three years as a loan officer, Chris joined Philip Morris International as their Regional Sales Manager. After five years in the same role, Chris decided it was time to start his own company. He founded Insight Mortgage Consultants and served as President for the next five years until he joined the Wealth Enhancement Group in 2008. This was Chris’ first job with the organization.
Chris accepted a job offer from Wells Fargo in 2010. He started as a loan servicing supervisor at the company and was promoted to loan manager after two years. Chris returned to the Wealth Enhancement Group in 2015 and was promoted to Vice President in 2020. Despite his rapid rise through the corporate ladder, Chris never forgot his passion for athletics. He reportedly coaches a high school lacrosse team and previously coached Ty’s football teams. Ty’s mother, Michelle Okada, graduated from Concordia University.
She received her Masters in Public Administration from Hamline University in 2008. Michelle has worked for the City of Woodbury since 1996. She has been the Director of Parks and Recreation since 2018. Michelle and Chris, husband and wife, joint Facebook account that is not extremely active. They also have their Instagram handles, but they keep them hidden.

The NFL athlete’s last name has fans confused. The last name “Okada” is of Japanese origin, however, Ty has never revealed if his family has Japanese ancestry. He was born and raised in Woodbury, Minnesota and graduated from East Ridge High School. He eventually enrolled at Montana State University and played football for six seasons. Ty wrestled before focusing on football in college. His older brother, MJ Okada, was also a wrestler, but eventually quit athletics. In 2019, MJ graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics. After graduation, MJ joined the UND Aerospace Foundation as a Chief Flight Instructor.
In 2021, he joined SkyWest Airlines and worked as their airline pilot for a year. In 2022, he was promoted to their pilot recruiter. He joined United Airlines earlier this year and now works as their first officer.
