In singles, my performance at the state level was good, but at the national level I would reach the semi-finals only once or twice a year, there was no consistency. I was performing better in doubles.”

To continue her training in badminton, she joined Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad in 2020. At the academy, her coach Arun Vishnu and former Indian badminton player Pullela Gopichand paired her with Gayatri Gopichand (badminton player) for women’s doubles. Facts/General Knowledge

  • At the age of 5, he started training in badminton. His father was a physical education teacher and began his early training. He trained under his father for about six years and then his father decided to continue his professional training. In her early years of training, she played in women’s doubles with her sister. In an interview he talked about making his career in badminton. He said,

When I started, hardly anyone played this game in my village. When my father started encouraging me and my sister to play badminton, many people questioned him. Many people suggested that it is of no use and no one from our field will be able to make a career in it. But my father paid no attention to it and kept training us and gave his full support.”

  • While talking to journalists in 2022, he talked about his future goals. He said,

In terms of career goals I am more focused on doubles right now and the aim is to try and qualify for the next Olympics in 2024. Even though I have received a scholarship from the Sports Ministry, there are still many financial difficulties. My father had to leave his job to help me in my career as he was not able to concentrate on both. But the fact that we have come this far gives us confidence. I am very grateful to my parents and my family.
