Weeks after his game-winning catch made the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVIII champions, Mecole Hardman Jr. is opening up about the conversation he had with Taylor Swift after the big game.
During his appearance in Pivot podcast on Tuesday, February 27, Hardman Jr. recalled the exchange with the Love story singer. “She told me, ‘Good job, proud of you, good game.’ Like, ‘Man, that was crazy,’” she said. “Then she said something about doing these magic tricks.”
Hardman Jr. further revealed that he met Taylor Swift while attending a gathering at Travis Kelce’s house. Kelce and Swift have been dating since last summer. They made their romance public at the end of September 2023.
During the meeting, Hardman Jr. noted that he impressed Swift with a magic trick. “[When] I met her for the first time, she was doing magic tricks with cards and I got some tricks that I can do with cards,” he explained.
“And she was like, ‘This is crazy,’ and every time she sees me, she talks about it. Then she said, man, you and these cards, your hands are magic, something like that she was saying. “It was cool that she said that.”

Meanwhile, Kansas City Chiefs defensive coach Dave Merritt opened up about the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Merritt revealed that the pop icon had been secretly dating Kelce before their relationship became public.
“When he started to regain consciousness, it was private,” Merritt said as he spoke. The Sports Store with Reese and K-Mac podcast earlier this week. “She would enter stadiums without people really knowing until the camera highlighted it.”
He then pointed out the impact Taylor Swift has had on Kelce and the rest of the Chiefs players. “She really affected the team in a positive way. She was not in a negative way.”
“Everyone was excited and Travis was happy. So when my player, a brother, is happy by my side, that helps me and encourages me, that’s why Travis came there a different man. “So she helped us.”
Merritt then noted that Taylor Swift is more of a “little sister” to both coaches and players.
Taylor Swift previously shared that she and Kelce have been together for a while. “I think some people think they saw our first date at that game. “We would never be psychotic enough to launch a first date hard.”
