Transformers 7 Main Villain Is Scourge, Leader Of The Terrorcons

Transformers 7’s main villain will be Scourge, the leader of the Terrorcons. Paramount’s Transformers franchise began in 2007 from director Michael Bay. The first film starred Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky and Megan Fox as Mikaela Banes, a teenage couple that gets caught up in an intergalactic conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons, led by Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively. After LaBeouf returned for two sequels, Mark Walhberg took over the franchise for the fourth and fifth installments.

The most recent installment, 2018’s Bumblebee, acted as an origin story for the Autobot, but now Paramount is looking to reboot the franchise with a whole new cast of human characters and Transformers. It was known that Transformers 7 will star Anthony Ramos (In The Heights) as the lead role alongside Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah), but it was recently announced that the revival will be subtitled Rise of the Beasts, confirming that it will adapt the 1990s television series, Beast Wars.

Paramount also revealed a ton of new details about Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, including its main villain. The film will feature Scourge, the leader of the Terrorcons, as its primary antagonist. Not much is known about Scourge other than he will be very different from the other Transformers in the film and has a huge claw for a left hand with yellow electricity.

Since the franchise has reportedly “exhausted” the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons, Transformers 7 will introduce a few new factions in an attempt to revitalize the story. They will be the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons. The Decepticons will be returning for the reboot, but the Terrorcons, led by Scourge, will be the main threat. The film will return Optimus Prime as the primary protagonist, but given that it is set during 1994, he will be new to Earth and in Generation 1 form.

With the Transformers franchise admittedly going a little stale with recent installments, these plans for revitalization are desperately needed. The introduction of new factions, characters, and the integration of the Beast Wars storyline, which director Steven Caple Jr. is eager to explore, seems like a wise route to take. Transformers 7’s new characters, including its main villain, Scourge, will be seen in theaters a year from now on June 24, 2022.
