What exactly happened between Trae Tha Truth and Z-Ro, another rapper?
In September 2022, rapper Z-Ro, whose real name is Joseph Wayne McVey IV, informed detectives that he had been assaulted and that his valuables had been taken away during the incident. In the video of the incident, according to investigators, the boys can be seen hitting and kicking Z-Ro while he lies curled up on the ground. Z-Ro confirmed the same in his comment. Trae is seen in the video attacking Z-Ro and the rest of his team wearing an orange ABN jersey. A member of Trae’s group was also spotted taking a gold necklace from the rapper.
In his testimony to investigators, Z-Ro said that on the night of the incident, he went to the restaurant around 10 p.m. to meet another musician from his publishing company. He observed a group of people as they left the restaurant and recognized them as Trae Tha Truth and his group.
According to Click2Houston, Z-Ro said he was taking pictures with fans when Trae approached him. Trae reportedly wanted to meet the musician after his recording session, to which Z-Ro said he agreed. When Z-Ro announced that he had been beaten, the two rappers gathered in the parking lot next to the sprinter’s truck. He appeared to make verbal threats in videos that went viral online before police got involved.
Trae Tha Truth has previously denied Z-Ro’s claims.
Trae Tha Truth initially denied Z’s allegations, Ro indicated that they spoke the day after the incident and blamed family problems. HipHopDX mentioned an Instagram video that the rapper played and took down. Trae says in the video:
“I’m going to deal with this once and only once. I feel like I’m at the point where I can’t just sit here and let things drag on. But I believe I owe it to everyone to let them know – especially the people really committed to me and understood the situation, the story they were telling – that it was a lie.”
Then he said:
“It’s not a 7 on 1 match. It’s not a surprise ambush. It’s not like that. It’s a family business, an internal affair that’s probably been going on for 10, 15 years and it’s been like that. just poured into Damn.”
According to the newspaper, Trae Tha Truth said in the video that he held no malice towards Z-Ro. Both rappers were previously signed to ABN label.
