An elderly American woman lost her life after a tourist boat sank in the Bahamas.
Many people are asking questions after a ferry carrying cruise passengers to Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas suddenly sank. Sadly, the incident claimed the life of a 75-year-old American woman.
On Tuesday, horrifying images showed passengers struggling to hold on to the double-decker as it tilted dangerously to one side. As the camera pans, frightened passengers can be heard screaming in fear and some appear to have fallen to the side of the ship.
Some tourists could be seen jumping into the choppy waters to escape the sinking ship. According TMZPolice say the incident claimed the life of a 75-year-old Colorado woman.
At this time, the woman’s name and exact cause of death have not been released.
American tourist Kelly Schissel posted a TikTok shortly after the disaster. She claims that it was only when a crying crew member ran to the deck for a life jacket that she and most of the other passengers realized something was terribly wrong.
Additionally, the crew members were so scared that they were unable to guide the passengers during the emergency. Fortunately, Schissel and the others were able to put on their life jackets and move to the upper level of the ship.

After one person jumped into the water, other passengers did the same. Unfortunately, due to the rough waters, many passengers found it difficult to stay afloat, even with the help of life jackets.
A short time later, rescue boats were deployed and took everyone to safety. Schissel was able to board a random fishing boat that was nearby. A lucky coincidence.
Once the shocked passengers arrived at the Blue Lagoon, Schissel says he took matters into his own hands and directed everyone to a nearby pavilion for a head count.
TMZ It also reports that two other unidentified passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The privately owned ship, included in a tour operator’s package for cruise lines visiting the Bahamas, departed Paradise Island in Nassau at 9:20 a.m. Less than two hours into the trip, it began to encounter unexpected waves. Schissel explains more in the video below:
