ThorAlthough Loki started out as a minor villain, he went on to become one of the core characters of the Marvel Universe. Tom Hiddleston says Loki was never a villain
Cast Lokiincluding Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and Sofia Di Martino, were interviewed deadline April 13, 2024 to reveal more about the inner workings Loki series. During the Contenders TV event, Hiddleston talked about Loki’s evil roots but claimed that Loki was never actually a villain.hiddleston points out loki “A broken soul, a broken heart, feeling like I don’t belong here,” It is this sadness that turns into resentment, the better to connect him to Sylvie and Morbius. Lokiand hints that his evil actions may not be his true intentions.
There is no doubt that playing Loki changed the course of my life. I’m very proud of where we ended up in season two. Being able to make something come to fruition is a very creative sense of accomplishment. From the first movie, I always saw him as a broken soul, a broken heart, feeling like he didn’t belong…all the sadness turned into grievance. That was his connection to Sylvie. And this grievance is what drives him to become a villain. The Avengers and Thor Mobius gives him a second chance to rediscover the glorious purpose he has always carried…and it comes in a form he never recognized, never expected. It gave him a catharsis that he wasn’t ready for.
Tom Hiddleston stresses how much he loves playing Loki in the film Thor and ending Loki second season. The Season 5 finale left Loki’s future in the MCU unclear, so while there have been rumors that the former God of Mischief will return, Marvel Studios has yet to confirm it.Hiddleston appears in Jimmy Kimmel Live! April 12, 2024, and revealed his interest in “Narrative conclusion” Reached by the end of the year Loki Season 2, but also delved deeper into the idea that Loki wasn’t a villain but just making “Wrong choice.”
I have no idea. I really do not know. I know we’ve reached some sort of narrative conclusion in season two, and that’s very satisfying to me. I know he’s made some interesting choices that could add up to a picture that looks like he’s a villain, and at one point, he made some misleading choices. You know, it was a bad day at the office when he tried to take over New York and the Avengers had to assemble to stop him. I think you know, 14 years later, he’s making some more generous, loving, heroic choices.
Odin is behind Loki’s trauma (and his “evilness”)
Even though Loki is considered one of the most famous villains in the Marvel Universe’s Phase One, Tom Hiddleston made a good point that Loki’s “evil” actions weren’t actually motivated by Evil intentions. In fact, most of Loki’s evil was caused by Odin’s treatment of his adopted son. Anthony Hopkins’ Odin steals Loki as a nascent Frost Giant in the hope that he and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor (Odin’s biological son) can one day fight between the two warring giants. Partnerships are formed between species. This means that Odin always favors Thor over Loki, which results in Loki always feeling like second best.
MCU Confirms Odin Is Just as Bad as Thanos in One Key Way While Odin isn’t a villain and has never been the most moral character, Marvel has confirmed that he’s on par with Thanos in one important way.
Loki’s isolation from his family causes him to desperately seek approval and acceptance from his adoptive father. This desire led him to manipulate Thor into being expelled from Asgard, and the Frost Giants into Asgard and defeated in the 2011 game. Thor. These could obviously be seen as acts of pure evil, but they were motivated by Loki’s need to be seen by his father, although these plans ultimately backfired. In recent projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Loki has grown into a true hero, in part because Loki has become more confident in his own worth rather than seeking his father’s attention.
Loki proves his true goodness in his solo series
Marvel Studios Loki Season 1 brought an evil version of the God of Mischief back to the MCU, as he had just escaped from the clutches of the Avengers in 2012. Loki acts in his own self-interest most of the time. Loki In the first season, he teamed up with Sylvie to try to overthrow the Time Difference Authority. However, Loki In the Season 1 finale, the titular God of Mischief reconsiders this course of action for the sake of the divine timeline. After the destruction of the Sacred Timeline and the demise of those who remained, Loki In season two, Loki demonstrates his heroism more fully.
Loki Season two transforms the former God of Mischief into a truly selfless hero who personally destroys the Time Loom and takes on the responsibility of protecting the infinite branching timelines of the multiverse. This was a true sacrifice for Loki, especially since he had only recently started a new family with his TVA comrades, including Mobius, Hunter B-15, Casey, Sylvie, and Ouroboros. The fact that Loki chose to sacrifice these new relationships and dedicate his life to protecting the multiverse is a testament to his transformation into a true hero, shunned by any self-interest or evil.

Only the Avengers made Loki a villain (but it’s more complicated than that)
The only MCU project to showcase Loki’s evil was 2012’s the Avengers, which saw the God of Mischief travel to Earth and begin an invasion of New York with the help of his Chitauri army. This puts the lives of millions of innocent people at risk, but Loki continues to seek revenge on his brother who has developed a fondness for Earth. However, this storyline is much more complicated, as the tragic backdrop to these actions is that Loki has just spent a considerable amount of time in hellish exile at the clutches of the Mad Titan Thanos.
Loki and Thanos’ fragile alliance the Avengers Meaning the God of Mischief was backed into a corner. Either he’s part of Thanos’ plan to obtain the Tesseract, or he’s going to be killed. This simple decision meant Loki had no choice but to go ahead and invade New York, hence Loki’s evil deeds the Avengers This is actually Thanos’ first evil act in the Marvel Universe. This proves that Tom Hiddleston was right, Loki was never actually a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but just misguided, and thankfully he got the chance to show him off in his latest story of heroism.
Loki
After escaping from a different timeline, Loki stars in his own eponymous series, in which he learns about his ex’s life and discovers the truth about time and space. On the chopping block, Loki has a chance to save himself and help TVA hunt down someone even more dangerous than himself – another Loki.
