Career
Timo began his professional ice hockey career in 2012 as a junior in the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers of the Elite Jr League. He was selected 12th overall by the Halifax Mooseheads in the 2013 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) CHL Import Draft that same year. He was named captain of the Mooseheads for the 2015-16 QMJHL season. He was a member of the club until the 2015-2016 season. Meier was traded to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on January 6, 2016.
On July 8, 2015, Timo signed with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). The San Jose Sharks selected him ninth overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. He agreed to a three-year initial contract with the club. Timo made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks against the Montreal Canadiens on December 16, 2016, during the 2016–17 season. In 2013, Timo made his WJC18 debut for the Swiss U18 team, finishing sixth in the tournament. He represented his country on several occasions. He is still a member of the San Jose Sharks.
