Ava Michelle has a pretty unique story. She’s currently scaling the heights of Hollywood, but she’s had to overcome a form of adversity that people rarely talk about.
Height rarely appears as a mode of discrimination. In fact, most of us admire tall people and wish we were a few inches taller. However, for Ava, the height has been working against her for most of her life. Despite this, she has managed to turn this supposedly negative attribute into one of her strengths. She had a hard time in dance moms
Ava was born and raised in Fenton, Michigan. Her mother owned JC’s Broadway Dance Academy and used the academy to teach Ava how to dance.
Ava used her dancing skills to audition for the Abby Lee Dance Company on the reality show, dance moms. She auditioned for him in season 3 of the show and became a regular cast member in season 4.
Despite her obvious skill and talent, Ava had a cold relationship with ALDC director Abby Lee. At the end of Season 4, Abby decided to cut her off the team. On top of that, Abby humiliated Ava when she kicked her out.
He made fun of Ava’s height, but Ava stood tall and thanked Abby for the opportunity to dance for ALDC. It wasn’t the first time Abby had ridiculed Ava. Throughout the series, Ava was abused due to her height. Abby went as far as calling her by names like praying mantis.
Despite being kicked out of the ALDC, Ava remained on the show and competed for her mother. She was a class above everyone else, and she let Abby know it. Ava showcased her talent when she beat Abby’s star pupil at the national championships in Season 5.

“Abby intimidated me. People would shame me for my body and tear me apart. She got really bad there, for a second. Not only the kids at my school made fun of my height, but also people I didn’t even know. That was one of my lowest points.”
Ava left the show on a high, and she auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation. Ava told her story during the audition and the judges approved it. However, her time on the show came to an end when she was sent home for Academy Week.
She saw tall girl like your chance to become a star
After the So you think you can dance Disappointed, Ava began auditioning for roles in shows and movies. However, her height got in the way of her success. She did manage to land several short roles, but found it difficult to land leading roles. Ava she confessed in an interview with the Zach Canto Show;
“For auditions, I would go in and go a little far in some really big roles and always live up to my height, because usually the other guy was shorter than me or they were just sorry that you were too tall. .”
Ava thanks her manager for pushing her to audition for the role of Jodi in tall girl. Her manager saw it as the perfect opportunity for Ava to fill a role that complemented her. She read the script and realized why her manager was so excited about it. Ava’s mom also read the script and she too realized that this was Ava’s big break.
Ava auditioned and got the role after waiting three months. she talked to teen fashion about getting the role;
“My height was very difficult for me growing up. She was 5 foot 10 at 13 years old. He was very, very tall. In the business that I was in, and even when I was in school, I was made fun of and it was very difficult. But ironically I got my first big [acting gig] partly because of what I hated about myself for so long.”

Ava played the role of Jodi in the movie. tall girl. She is the same height as Jodi, with both girls being 6’1″. Jodi outclasses almost everyone at her school, including most of the boys. Her height undermines her confidence and she becomes a target for thugs.
It doesn’t help that her sister is the paragon of female beauty and that her father also bullies her because of her height. However, like all teenagers, she can’t resist the allure of love, but the stereotype that the girl should be shorter than the boy gets in the way of her.
That is until a Swedish exchange student arrives at her school and sees her chance to find love. Ava felt a personal connection to Jodi because she, too, endured bullying. She could relate to Jodi’s experiences because she had been through similar treatment. Ava told him refinery29;
“I went through these things. I was like, ‘Anyone follow me? Because this is really creepy. I was able to jump into his shoes so easily.”
Ava’s experiences allowed her to bring out Jodi’s emotions in a unique way. The show’s director, Nzingha Stewart, was impressed by her acting skills. She said refinery29;
“He was willing to put all the pain and tenderness and sweetness into it and say, ‘That’s how it is. And he shows it in his performance.”
she had to deal with tall girls initial negative reaction
Ava poured out her heart in tall girl, but people still chose to ridicule the movie. The negative responses began when the first trailer was released on August 29. People felt that being tall was not something worthy of being portrayed in a movie.
Fans and critics alike felt that other issues deserved airtime rather than being loud. However, the reaction didn’t worry Ava as much as it did when she was younger. She said refinery29;
“I’ve had enough hate since the trailer came out. But I feel like I’m in such a different place now. It doesn’t affect me like it did when I was younger.”
Ava chose to focus on the positive impact of the film rather than the negative impact. She hopes people realize that height can be a form of discrimination, especially for young women. She said refinery29;
“People will know what we went through on a different level. I really hope these people who hate the movie watch the movie and see what it’s about. And look at the stereotypes we broke.”
Ava hopes that her efforts can encourage tall girls to break down the barriers that have been placed on them due to height. She especially hopes that her film can have a bigger impact in Hollywood.
She hopes to play various roles.
Ava is already looking forward to playing other roles in the future. She would love to practice her dance skills in front of the camera. Ava hopes to get roles because of her talent as an actress and not because of her height.
Ava’s biggest role model as an actor is Blake Lively. He gave Ava the confidence to pursue acting. Ava told him just jared;
“I’ve been obsessed with her for a long time… When I was trying to break into acting, and trying to break into this business, and being tall, it was very difficult. They constantly told me no because of my height. she was one of those people [to look to] and I was like, you know, it can happen. Tall girls can do this.”
Blake Lively is the reason Ava wants to star in the Gossip Girl Resume.
She is a YouTuber, singer and fashion designer.
It seems that Ava’s talents are endless. When she’s not acting, Ava works on her YouTube channel. The channel hosts tutorials and various challenges. Ava also uses the channel to show off her singing skills.
There are several music videos on the channel. Ava’s most popular music video is for the song ILY. She wrote the song as a dedication to her mother, who has helped her a lot in her career as a dancer and actress.
Ava has also made strides in the fashion and modeling industry. She has walked in fashion shows for various renowned designers. For example, she modeled for Jovani during Los Angeles Fashion Week. Additionally, Ava has collaborated with fashion designer Jonathan Marc Stein to create a clothing line called, AVA X JMS. she talked to celebrity mix on the clothing line;
“I call it sporty/chic!! I wanted it to be something that you could wear on your own on a normal day and then dress it up by adding just one thing. But my biggest requirement was that everything had to be super comfortable, while also being unique.”
Her other clothing line is known as Self-love Club. The clothing line features ordinary t-shirts and sweatshirts with inspirational messages written on them. The messages are written backwards, but it reads well when the user stands in front of a mirror.
