Camille Fournier is an aspiring astronaut who aspires to be the first French woman to set foot on Mars. Achieving such an extraordinary feat will require years of training that Camille has already begun. Camille’s family was initially shocked by her decision to pursue astronomy at the age of 10.
Camille was born in Bourgoin-Jallieu in France. At the age of 10, Camille decided to pursue astrology, much to the surprise of her friends and family. Camille’s family supported Camille’s decision when they saw her engagement. She began by studying the theoretical part of astronomy before enrolling in space boot camp to begin her training as an astronaut.
Fournier has studied and trained a lot, but there is still a long way to go before he becomes an astronaut. She revealed through a Q&A Instagram story that she has seven more years of study and about 15 years before she becomes a certified astronaut. In five years she hopes to have completed her master’s degree and passed various certifications.
The coronavirus pandemic has interfered with Fournier’s schedule, but he is optimistic it will be ready well before the end of the year. She announced in early September that she had started her sophomore year at the university:
“Have a great start to the school year! This summer has been amazing for me and I’m going back to college for my second year of Physics.”

Camille added that she is open to never coming back to Earth once she sets foot on Mars: “It’s a possibility, but I’m not afraid. Like I said before, this is so much bigger than my life.”
The engine of this ambition is the same as it was ten years ago: curiosity. The need to know what’s in space fuels Camille’s desire to push herself to the limit. “Black holes and dark matter, this is great,” she wrote. Camille revealed that she wants to be remembered as the revolutionary scientist who found the self-explanatory equation of astrophysics.
