One of those characters is Mayor Joe Quimby. He is meant to represent what the average person thinks of a political figure, including his endless corruption and fragile morality. To paint a clearer picture, here are the ten worst things Mayor Quimby has done.

Popular money management

When it comes to managing Springfield’s money, Quimby is not your man, as he is often found using it for personal gain. In the episode “The Computer Wore Menace Shoes”, it is revealed that he used the citizens’ hard earned tax money (and some cement) to build himself a swimming pool – and a very luxurious one there. !

As mayor, you should not embezzle, especially if the money you are using is used to improve your city.

make friends with the gangster

Quimby has proven he has no problem taking money – especially when it comes from lewd sources. He is known to socialize with various shady figures, including local mafia boss Don, Fat Tony. At one point, when Quimby tried to stamp out one of Fat Tony’s exploits, he was mercilessly mocked, claiming that “the mayor’s office is not for sale.” As you can see, the irony may have been lost on him…

not the easiest to get married

People say it’s their business behind closed doors, as they say, though that still matters. Mayor Quimby has been cheating on his wife, Martha, for a long time. He was famous for having affairs with many women in Springfield, including the town’s beauty queen, Miss Springfield.

He often expresses regret over marrying his wife, Martha, and laments at having to spend time with her. While it doesn’t affect the town directly, it’s not the best example.

Curse of Monorail

It was one of many examples of Quimby trying to do good for the city and backfired. In an effort to be more eco-conscious and increase tourism revenue, Quimby decided to build a tourist attraction above the ruins of the Springfield monorail.

A series of unfortunate technical problems caused the monorail to run wild, causing many injuries and property damage. The road to hell may be paved with good intentions, but they certainly won’t get you re-elected.

Mayor Quimby has served 6 terms as mayor of Springfield, which is a bit unsettling. Worse still, he admits that he achieved this through nefarious deeds. not just a little selfish

Mayor Quimby is nothing if not selfish. In the episode “Homer Walks Alone”, Maggie bows to the pressure and stands on the bridge leading to Springfield, causing a traffic jam. After Quimby’s arrest, there was a protest in favor of her release.

Here’s the problem: He angrily told Sheriff Wiggums that if Marge had to go to jail, he could “vote by-bye chicks.” In the end, Quimby’s chances of being re-elected always took precedence over his constituents. As a government official, this is not the best practice.

Not the biggest fan of his citizens

A politician should lead their people regardless of their personal views. That’s not the case with Mayor Quimby. His disdain for the people of Springfield doesn’t even hide it! He openly calls the people “idiots” and worse yet, he’s not even in town for half the time. In the episode “Marge in Chains”, Quimby assures the Springfielders that he won’t be vacationing in the Bahamas due to the flu outbreak. It soon becomes clear that the reality is quite the opposite.
