The production companies behind the successful Netflix reality show Love is blind are responding after they were sued by one of the show’s stars.

Tran Dang, who was supposed to appear in the show’s fifth season, named Kinetic Content and Delirium TV in a lawsuit saying she was sexually assaulted by her ex-fiancé Thomas Smith while they were filming.

In court documents, Tran detailed being sexually assaulted by Thomas and then “illuminated” by a production assistant. He added that “no one had intervened to stop the harassment” while it was happening.

He listed other complaints against the production companies, prompting a response.

“We stand with and support victims of sexual assault, but Ms. Dang’s claims against the producers are baseless,” the companies shared in a statement with The Wrap.

They went on to note: “We document the independent choices of adults who volunteer to participate in a social experiment. Your journey is not scripted or filmed 24 hours a day. “We have no knowledge or control over what happens in private spaces when we are not filming, and participants can choose to end their trip at any time.”

“We take each and every concern of our participants seriously and prioritize their well-being,” the companies stressed. “Obviously, we cannot address undisclosed concerns, and throughout the time that Ms. Dang was involved in the production of Love is blind, never informed the producers of any alleged irregularities of any kind. He also did not decide to end his participation in the experiment. Instead, Ms. Dang continued the experiment for weeks after the time her lawyers now claim an incident occurred. “We deny and will vigorously defend the allegations against us.”
