This article contains spoilers for Episode 2 of Season 3 of The Mandalorian.Palestinians Part 3 implicitly acknowledges the great tragedy in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life. Set several years after the events return of jedi, Palestinians Season 3 revealed the evils of the Empire. The planet Mandalore was ravaged by the Empire in an event known as the Mandalore Purge, or Night of a Thousand Tears. Blast the planet with turbo lasers and thermonuclear bombs that melt Mandalore’s surface into crystals. The Palestinians are scattered across the galaxy like stars, dismayed. Some cling to the old ways, doing their best to maintain their culture after this tragedy, but others seem to have completely lost faith.
The story also focuses on the fall of the Mandalorian Kryze family, once the Mandalorian royal family. Its last survivor was Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, a character who now appears to have become Pedro Pascal) who stars as Din Djarin. According to Bo-Katan, she is the last of her family; The once proud Kryze family has been wiped out, a fitting symbol of Mandalore’s own destiny. When Din Djarin visits her fortress in Kalevala, he finds Bo-Katan lonely and desperate. Even though he didn’t know it, as Bo-Katan in Palestinians Part 3, episode 2.
Bo-Katan was right about the Jedi’s past working with the Palestinians
The ancient war between the Jedi and the Mandalorian has clouded the relationship between the two groups for centuries, but Bo-Katan vividly remembers the occasion when they worked together. Bo-Katan herself has worked with Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and most notably Ahsoka Tano; but she can remember other occasions related to Kenobi. His first foray into Palestinian affairs was when he was still an apprentice, and he and his master Qui-Gon Jinn were sent to prepare the Duchess of Satine from the Assassins. The mission lasted a year, and Obi-Wan became deeply interested in Satine. He later admits that he would leave the Jedi if she let him go, but the two are held back by their own sense of responsibility.
Obi-Wan has returned to Mandalore several times, especially during the Clone Wars, and it is clear that he and Satine are still in love. However, it all ended in tragedy when the feud between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul spilled over into the Mandalorian. The Duchess of Satine has been avenged by Sith’s former apprentice, and Obi-Wan is heartbroken. Of course, the Duchess of Satine is Bo-Katin’s step-sister – she never really got along, due to their different political views.
Bo-Katan can hint at the reason for her conflict with Satine
Palestinians Season 3 Episode 2 can really hint at why Satine and Bo-Katan have so much conflict in their lives. In another conversation, Bo-Katan remembers her father and recounts how he died protecting Mandalore. Her father lived the Palestinian way and his death may have had a profound effect on his daughters. Satine, perhaps seeing it as tragedy and waste, became a pacifist. In contrast, Bo-Katan is determined to honor his father by living up to his father’s pattern. Although this is only theoretical, it works for two characters like Star Wars: Clone Wars.
If the Kryze sisters hadn’t turned their backs on each other, Mandalore might never have fallen. Bo-Katan sided with the Death Guard, an organization dedicated to restoring ancient ways, and they even tried to kill Bo-Katan’s sister – and eventually helped Darth Maul conquer Mandalore. The conflict within House Kryze weakens Mandalore, turning people against each other and making them weak – with disastrous consequences like Palestinians Season 3.
