Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse just got banned!
The newest movie in the kingdom of Spiderman The franchise was reportedly banned by the United Arab Emirates and a reason was revealed.

According to Variety, the animated film, which was a sequel to the 2018 into the spider verseIt will not be released in theaters after “failing to pass the country’s censorship requirements.”
The reason it didn’t pass the requirements seems to be one scene in particular, which features a banner in the background that has a transgender flag. The sign also reads “Protect the lives of trans people.”
The sources also pointed out that this is only one of the reasons for the ban.
Another reason seems to be Gwen Stacy and the character arc. The outlet says that some fans are taking the portrayal of the character as being transcoded. Her “her dimension” is also represented by the colors of the transgender flag.
However, it is important to note that Gwen does not identify as transgender in the film.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse It is not the first film banned in that region. Light-year was also banned, as was eternal and even the Oscar-winning film, Everything, everywhere, all at once.
