To get the most out of everything, spend extra time searching through drawers and cabinets and opening locked doors. When a locked door appears, save enough materials to craft the Shiv, as the player may not have these materials available when playing the game for the first time. Use materials sparingly throughout the game and be careful when upgrading your weapons to make the most of available resources.

The largest of these collections are artifacts, often notes, maps, letters, and other general items that can add to the atmosphere of the story. In The Last of Us: Part One, this additional story is incorporated into the base game. However, you should only play this episode after beating the base game, because despite being a prequel, it contains spoilers for the base game.
