During an interview with Alex Zane’s A trip to the cinema podcast, Dexter said he had a three-minute-long intro scene in his head that he wanted to kick off the movie.

He told the host that he realized that “you can’t make a movie for broadcast the same way you make it for the theater. There are different metrics and approaches. There has to be, for the simple reason that people can tune out very quickly.”

The scene Dexter had in mind featured Ana’s character driving a car up a mountain (referencing the 1978s). Dirty game), and when he told Apple that, they rejected it.

The network explained to Dexter that they were concerned if it would resonate with a television audience.

“I thought it was cool, this three-minute opening scene, and they said you can’t do it because if [the opening sequence] continues and something doesn’t happen in the first 30 seconds, we know the data shows that people will just shut down,” he shared. “I don’t want that, so I’m committing.”
