Pop superstar Taylor Swift is selling one of her private jets ahead of the Super Bowl. The decision comes after news that the “Shake it Off” singer would file legal action against a college student who began tracking her flights. The news was first reported by Collin Rugg.
“Taylor Swift sold one of her private jets as she considers suing college student Jack Sweeney for tracking and sharing her whereabouts. Sweeney not only shares the locations of celebrities but also their estimated carbon emissions.” Rugg wrote.
“Swift is now selling its $40 million Dassault Falcon 900LX, but is keeping its $54 million Dassault Falcon 7X. “The Dassault Falcon 7X has been Swift’s primary means of transportation for his Eras Tour.”
Swift delivers cease and desist letter from Flight Tracker
It’s Super Bowl week and all attention should be on the big game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, most of the media coverage has focused on pop star Taylor Swift.
Swift began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce this season. And when Kansas City advanced to the Super Bowl last month, most thought it was a given she would be in Las Vegas. But Swift has since resumed her Eras tour. And travel limitations have become significant.
Even Kelce has revealed that it is not safe for him to attend this Sunday. That’s what prompted college student Jack Sweeney to start tracking his flights. And now, she’s taking action against him, as his team has served Sweeney with a cease and desist letter.
“While this may be a game for you, or an avenue you hope will bring you wealth or fame, it is a matter of life and death for our Client,” the letter reads. “EM. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other people who wish her harm since she was a teenager.”
Swift could replace the private jet it sells
Swift has had to deal with several incidents involving a stalker in recent months. The same man was arrested near his home twice in as many days for loitering near his property in New York City. But even though Taylor is turning down one of his private jets amid possible suits, he still has another jet that is fully functional and ready to be used. Rigger also has not ruled out the possibility of simply replacing the plane he is selling.
“It is currently unknown whether Swift is downsizing or preparing to purchase a new aircraft. “Swift was crowned the biggest polluter of 2022. His team claims that was in part because he lent his plane.” Added Rugg.
“Swift’s plane rides have reportedly produced 138 tonnes of CO2 emissions. When he traveled from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Kansas City, for example, he allegedly used 4,151 gallons of fuel, which is estimated to be $23,250 in fuel.”
