Taylor Swift shares the inspiration behind several songs from her newly released album. The Department of Tortured Poets.
In an additional comment on Amazon Music, Swift shared that the album’s opening song, Fortnight, with Post Malone, “exhibits” many of the common themes that appear throughout the album. Among those themes are fatalism, longing, longing, and lost dreams.
“I think it’s a very fatalistic album,” Taylor Swift said, according to Deadline. “There are a lot of very dramatic lines in that about life and death and I love you, it’s ruining my life. These are very hyperbolic and dramatic things to say. But it’s that kind of album: it’s a dramatic, artistic, tragic vision of love and loss.”
Speaking of Fortnight, Swift also said that she had “always imagined” the song taking place in an “American town where the American dream you thought would happen to you didn’t happen.”
“You don’t end up with the person you loved,” he explained. “And now you have to live with it every day, wondering what it would have been like, maybe seeing them leave. And that’s a pretty tragic concept, really. So I just wrote from that perspective.”

Talking about your track clear arch, Swift said it was named after the silent film actress. She noted that the song is a commentary on what she has seen in the industry she has been in over time.
“I used to sit at record labels trying to get a record deal when I was little,” she recalled. “And they’d say, ‘you know, you remember us,’ and then they’d name an artist, and then they’d say something derogatory about her, ‘but you know this, you’re so much better.’ this way or that way.’”
Taylor Swift further noted that this is how society teaches women to see themselves. “As if you could be the new replacement for this woman who has done something great before you. “She chose women who have done great things in the past and have been these archetypes of greatness in the entertainment industry.”
Swift later said that Clara Bowl was the first “It girl.” She used Stevie Nick as an example of her and called her an icon. “She is an incredible example for anyone who wants to write songs and make music.”
Taylor Swift confirmed that her single Florida!!! It is not inspired by a previous relationship. But it was inspired by her always watching Deadline. “People commit these crimes, where do they immediately run out of the city and go? “They’re going to Florida.”
