Taylor Swift fans slam ‘inappropriate’ theory about her sexuality

Taylor Swift’s fans and associates quickly responded to the now-controversial New York Times article about the pop icon’s sexuality.

In the piece titled Look what we made Taylor Swift do, New York Times editor Anna Marks compiled a list of LGBTQ references Swift has included in both her songs and lyrics. The editor notably suggests that Swift may have noted that she is part of the LGBTQ community.

“In isolation, a single fork drop may be meaningless or accidental,” Marks wrote. “But taken together, they are the unfolding of a ballerina’s bun after a long performance. Those drooping pitchforks began appearing in Swift’s art long before queer identity was undeniably marketable in mainstream America. “They suggest to queer people that she is one of us.”

However, the piece is now being criticized by people close or loved by Swift herself. A person close to the situation spoke to CNN about the article. “Because of her enormous success, there is a Taylor-shaped hole in people’s ethics right now. “This article would not have been allowed to be written about Shawn Mendes or any male artist whose sexuality has been questioned by fans.”

Another person caught the attention of journalists who don’t seem to mind crossing borders to write about Taylor Swift. “There seems to be no line some journalists won’t cross when writing about Taylor,” the person proclaimed. “Regardless of how invasive, false and inappropriate, all under the protective veil of an ‘opinion piece’.”

Taylor Swift is a great defender of LGBTQ rights

Refusing to remain silent on certain issues, Taylor Swift has used her strong platform to support the LGBTQ community in numerous ways. In the past, she has opposed several anti-gay bills. She also calls her concerts a “safe space” for the community.

In a 2019 interview with FashionSwift noted that she aspires to be a good ally to the LGBTQ community. “They are basically stripping rights away from everyone who is not a straight white cisgender man,” Swift declared. “Until recently I didn’t realize I could stand up for a community I’m not a part of.”

Taylor Swift has also spoken out about rumors about her sexuality in the prologue to her re-recorded album. 1989. She said she surrounded herself with friends because many have speculated that she is involved with men she is seen with publicly.

“If I just went out with my friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that, right?” she wrote. “Later I would learn that people could and would do it.”

Also in the prologue, Swift thanked her fans for recognizing that her “Squad” was never intended to be “mean.” “You, who knew that maybe a girl who surrounds herself with friends in adulthood is compensating for the lack of them in childhood (not by starting a tyrannical cult of hot girls),” she added.
