On Thursday, February 15, fan Mieka Pokarier, 16, was traveling with her mother and her 10-year-old sister from the Gold Coast to attend the pop superstar’s concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Mieka died at the scene. Her younger sister was airlifted to Sydney’s Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. She was placed in an induced coma, according to the New York Post. Her mother, the driver, received attention from paramedics and was taken to another hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the truck was also hospitalized and is in stable condition.
Police are reportedly still investigating the cause of the accident. To date, no arrests, charges or fines have been made in connection with the accident.
