Taylor Lautner reflects on ‘difficult’ fight with ‘Twilight’ co-star Robert Pattinson

Each Twilight Fans (and everyone even vaguely aware of late-2000s pop culture) know that the central conflict of the franchise is “Edward vs. Jacob.” You couldn’t go anywhere in 2009 without seeing “Team Jacob” and “Team Edward” products. And according to Taylor Lautner, the fictional feud with Robert Pattinson became a reality.

In the latest episode of the hugely popular Spotify show calls his daddy On the podcast, Taylor Lautner reflected on the “tough” dynamic between him and his Twilight rival, Robert Pattinson, as the two heartthrobs competed for the affections of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).

“I think it was difficult,” Lautner, the face of werewolf Jacob Black, said of the intense rivalry between Team Edward and Team Jacob that was brewing between Twilight fans. “I don’t know about him. But for me, at least, definitely, especially at the age he was, sometimes you get your feelings hurt when you shouldn’t. Sometimes it’s hard not to. It was a bit difficult”.

“I think sometimes it was awkward for the two of us to be together on a balcony and have 10,000 girls booing Rob but then cheering for me, but then this half booing and cheering for me. [for Rob], but then we have to have some kind of friendship,” he continued. “It was difficult.”

It was even harder, Taylor Lautner admitted, because he and Pattinson are “just very, very different people.”

“We never really connected on a deep level just because we’re different humans,” Lautner explained. “But he was always fantastic and the sweetest person ever.”

“I just have great feelings toward the franchise and everything it’s given me,” he said. “What he provided me has advantages and disadvantages, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. After the franchise ended, it took a journey to discover who I really am and what is really important to me in life. “I am very, very grateful for the franchise.”

For Taylor Lautner, the strangest part of being a Twilight The star is witnessing her sudden return to popularity more than a decade later, thanks to Generation Z.

“The last few years… it was just the TwiMoms stopping me on the street,” she told ET. “It just got too small. “I love TwiMoms, but they’ve had a resurgence recently,” he said.

“We have these young teenagers who are starting to see it. “It’s crazy to see him come back.”
