Tate McRae says the first version of ‘Greedy’ was ‘Trash’ and reveals which star musician convinced her to continue working on the song

Tate McRae opens up about the frustrating process of creating and releasing her hit single “Greedy”!

While chatting with Zane Lowe about his new music, the 20-year-old rising pop star revealed that he wanted to scrap the song entirely after making the first version.

It was Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic who convinced her to pursue the song and release it.

Tate called the first version of “Greedy” “absolute garbage.” She noted: “The only person who could hear was Ryan Tedder.”

The singer continued: “I remember leaving that session thinking, ‘What did we just do?’ So… it was crazy. I do not like that.”

Ryan made it impossible for Tate to leave the song behind. Every time she came into the studio, he would touch her again. “I was like, ‘Ryan, turn this off,’” Tate recalled. “I don’t need to listen to ‘Greedy’ one more time.” He said, ‘Tate, I love this song. I still love him.'”

Looks like Tate fans should thank the OneRepublic leader.

She jokingly captioned the interview clip: “Lol Ryna Tedder trying to convince me to release him greedy.”

Tate recently spoke about his friendship with Olivia Rodrigo and teased a possible collaboration.
