Early life

Tate Buening was born on February 24, 2011, in Huntsville, Alabama, United States. At the time of his death, he was only 10 years old. He had US citizenship.

Killed by his own father

On Friday morning, August 6, 2021, law enforcement agencies responded to a home in the 200 block of Blue Creek Drive in Harvest on Friday morning. Tate Buening, 10, and Brian Buening, 40, were discovered dead inside Buening’s Harvest home by Madison County Police.

Initially, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office confirms that the two victims died of gunshot wounds. According to the official, a family member applied for welfare and then officials from HEMSI, Harvest Fire & Rescue and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Tate’s mother, Kayla White, filed for an emergency protective order against Buening a month earlier in Madison County Circuit Court, saying she was extremely concerned for her son’s safety because the court was supposed to order visitation with Good.

Tate’s mother, Kayla, was concerned for his safety while he was in the custody of his father, Brian Buening. She contacted the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on August 6 to inquire about her well-being.

According to court records, Kayla claimed that Brian had post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, a “history of suicidal ideation with two failed suicide attempts,” alcohol problems, and anger.

The case has now been filed because Buening “carried out his threats and committed suicide and the minor.” But White is fighting for justice.
