Tanmay Bhatt started screenwriting in 2007 with UTV Bindass’ program ‘Has Le India’. This youth-oriented show was a standup comedy show that featured celebrity interviews. In 2008, Tanmay Bhatt wrote for ‘MTV Wassup – Voice of Youngistan’. The video jockey of this show was famous actor Ayushmann Khurrana. In 2009, Tanmay Bhatt wrote the script and dialogues for Disney Channel India’s teen sitcom TV series, ‘Kya Mast Hai Life’. The show featured actors like Vishal Malhotra, Nazneen Ghani and Sana Amin Shaikh. In 2009, Tanmay Bhatt hosted NDTV Imagine’s celebrity talk show, ‘Oye!’ Wrote the script for. Today is Friday!.’ This show was hosted by famous actor Farhan Akhtar.
All India Bakchod (AIB)
In 2013, Tanmay Bhatt along with other comedians like Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya founded a comedy company called All India Bakchod (AIB). The same year, he created his YouTube channel and started making comedy sketches. In 2014, he hosted ‘All India Bakchod Knockout’, a roast program hosted by Karan Johar and starring Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The event was very successful. After achieving immense success, the company dissolved in 2019 due to several allegations and complaints against employees.

In 2020, Tanmay also created ‘Honestly by Tanmay Bhatt’ on which he broadcasts podcasts discussing various topics like neuroscience, stock market, taxation and mutual funds. In 2020, Netflix India launched a series in collaboration with Tanmay Bhatt, where comedians react to new movies and TV show releases. Investigation against Tanmay Bhatt
In May 2016, the Mumbai Police Commissioner ordered an investigation against Tanmay Bhatt after the comedian’s standup comedy video surfaced on Facebook. The video shows an imaginary conversation between Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar discussing whether Virat Kohli is better than Sachin Tendulkar or not. The video was not liked by the celebrities’ fans and viewers and BJP leader Ashish Shelar filed a complaint against Tanmay Bhatt accusing him of mocking and insulting Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. The video was later removed from Facebook.
FIR against Tanmay Bhatt
In 2017, an FIR was filed against AIB co-founder Tanmay Bhatt after an inappropriate image of Narendra Modi with a dog filter was uploaded and circulated from AIB’s social media handles. This picture was of Narendra Modi’s lookalike who was standing with a phone in his hand while using the dog filter on Snapchat. Many followers of Narendra Modi were angry with this and also started a debate about the Congress political party joining this idea.

In 2015, an FIR was filed by activist Santosh Daundkar against 14 people, including Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and the entire cast of All India Bakchod. A complaint was filed due to the vulgar and obscene language used in the programme.

In 2018, Tanmay Bhatt was accused of remaining silent despite knowing about sexual harassment taking place in his company All India Bakchod. Mahima Kukreja, an employee of the company, accused comedian Utsav Chakraborty of sending her inappropriate text messages and pictures. Despite knowing everything about this, Tanmay Bhatt ignored the matter and did not say anything, due to which he faced a lot of hatred online, which resulted in his removal from the post of CEO of AIB. Due to this allegation, Amazon India removed Tanmay Bhatt from the panel of judges of Comicstaan Season 2.

Tanmay Bhatt removed from Kotak campaign
In 2023, Kotak Mahindra Bank canceled its 811 ad campaign named ‘#SamayKoSahiKaamPeLagao’ with Tanmay Bhatt and Samay Raina. The campaign sparked controversy on social media when the general public started posting screenshots of Tanmay Bhatt’s old tweets where he had mocked the Hindu god Ganesha. The bank apologized and issued a statement clarifying its decision to cancel its association with Tanmay Bhatt.
