One of my classmates told me that it was her birthday and I asked her what gift she was going to get from her parents and I also asked where the party was. I was surprised when she told me that her parents would take her to the temple and there would be no other celebrations. When I heard this, I was so angry at his parents that I later complained to my mother about how my friend’s parents were careless and did not celebrate his birthday. Hearing this, my mother scolded me and said that I should not speak bad about older people. I told him the whole story. Then my mother realized that my friend’s family was very poor, and they couldn’t even afford to buy cakes or gifts. This was the reason for not partying.”
