Supriya Sule was born on Monday, 30 June 1969 (age 54 years; as in 2023) in Poona, Maharashtra (present-day Pune). His zodiac sign is Cancer. He did his schooling from St. Columbus School, Pune. He completed his B.Sc. Studied. in Microbiology from Jai Hind College in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He did a master’s degree in water pollution from the University of California, Berkeley. After completing her college studies, she lived in Indonesia and Singapore before returning to Mumbai.

Supriya Sule is of Maratha ethnicity, and she belongs to Other Backward Caste (OBC) (Note: Those whose surname is ‘Powar’ or ‘Pawar’ as per Gazette of India, but are not from this community, should not do so) be included in the above community). His father, Sharad Pawar is a veteran politician and founder of NCP. His mother’s name is Pratibha Pawar. His cousin Ajit Pawar is also a prominent Indian politician. She is married to Sudanand Sule. They have two children, Revathi Sule and Vijay Sule.

Politics

Supriya Sule was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra for the first time in 2006. In 2009, he contested the general elections from Baramati Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra and won by a margin of 3.36 lakh votes. On 10 June 2012, during the 12th Foundation Day of the NCP, she launched the “Nationalist Girls Congress” in Mumbai to provide a platform for young girls to join politics. In 2014 and 2019, she was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from Baramati Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra.

On June 10, 2023, NCP chief Sharad Pawar declared Praful Patel and Supriya Sule as the working presidents of the party.

controversies

  • In April 2010, when Sharad Pawar was the BCCI president, Supriya Sule, along with her husband and the Pawar family, reportedly held 16% equity in City Corporation, a company that had participated in the bidding for an IPL cricket team. Sule denied all the allegations and said that they had nothing to do with the IPL bid. However, several news agencies uncovered evidence that he had substantial ties and equity in the company, and that there were numerous financial irregularities.
  • On 13 September 2019, Sule was harassed by a cabbie at Dadar Terminus in central Mumbai. Reportedly, a cabbie entered his railway compartment and started giving him taxi service. Even after refusing his services several times, the cabbie blocked her way and when he realized who she was, he forcibly started taking photographs with her.
