Sun later competed for Fuerza Regia in the Mexican League and Hamamatsu Phoenix in Japan’s BJ League. He returned to China in 2009 to participate in basketball with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
Sun and the Ducks reached the 2012 CBA Finals, but were defeated there. He was a member of the Ducks’ CBA Finals championship teams in 2014 and 2015.

Sun has made numerous film appearances. He played Kung-Fu Gaint in “Rush Hour 3” (an action-comedy movie) in 2007. In the 2016 movie “Funny Soccer,” he played the role of Dragon. The following year, he played Goldfinger in the fantasy action film “The Thousand Faces of Dunjia.”
Additionally, he has appeared in some television shows. Sun played the role of a giant in the 2016 television production of “Singing All Along.” He played Honghou in “Candle in the Tomb” that same year.
