Sumit Goswami was born on Monday, 18 November 1996 (age 26 years; as in 2022) in Daulati village, Sonipat, Haryana. He received his higher education at Polytechnic Engineering College, Haryana. He was interested in singing since childhood and started writing songs in the ninth grade. His father was not in favor of his singing career and wanted him to become an engineer. His father underestimated him a lot. Whenever he talked about becoming a singer, his father would laugh at him and call him Sheikh Chilli (a day dreamer or an impractical person). This hurt Sumit’s feelings and he told his father that he would earn a lot of money and pursue a career as a singer. He obeyed everything his father said and took admission in a college, but his desire to become a singer never stopped.

After completing his studies, he started doing night shifts in a private company. He used to work in the office at night and compose songs during the day. His first song ‘Karobaar’ was released in January 2018.
He did not tell his parents about this song. This song did not get much fame, but after this his family started supporting him a lot. He released the audio of his second song ‘Gangwar with Baoli Tared’, which received a lot of appreciation from the public. Later, he uploaded the video of the song on YouTube starring Vicky Kajla. After the release of the song, Sumit became a popular singer in Haryana.

Controversy
In October 2020, some people gathered in front of Sumit’s house and started firing. This incident was recorded in CCTV camera and the video went viral on social media. The people who fired ran away from the spot. According to the police, Sumit was threatened because his name was linked to the suicide of a man named Aman Bainsla, who committed suicide in 2020. He lived with his parents and sister in Sector-11 Rohini, Shahabad. Before his death, he had posted a video on social media in which he had revealed the name of Sumit and a girl who had cheated him in a business project.
