Wiki/Biography

Sumit Arora was born in 1991 (age 32 years; as of 2023) in Meerut. He has been very fond of cricket since childhood. He wanted to become a cricketer. Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar were his favorite cricketers. While growing up, he realized that his potential lay more towards becoming a writer rather than a cricketer. In an interview he revealed,

I have been a crazy fan of cricket since childhood. I wanted to be a cricketer even before I thought of becoming a writer. Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and all my heroes. When I was growing up, that was the only World Cup that India won before 2011. I wanted to be in the cricket team. Then I realized that I am not a good cricketer at all, I am a good writer.โ€

Sumit Arora grew up learning Hindi literature from his mother. He completed his primary education from a Hindi medium school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Hindi literature. Recalling his early years in an interview, he said,

I studied in Hindi medium school. I didn’t know how to speak English. My mother instilled in me the habit of reading from an early age, I used to read stories from (magazines) like Nandan, and then I graduated to literary magazines like Hans, Gyanodaya and others. By the age of 17 and 18, my columns started getting published in Hindi newspapers. Satire was my specialty.โ€

Facts/General Knowledge

  • In an interview, when Sumit Arora was asked about his writing style, he said,

Two things are, I communicate on some projects and sometimes prepare the entire script. The style of both is different. When I get a script, the first thing I try to do in my mind is who are these people? I talk to directors and screenwriters. And then I try to write my own about the characters and their world. So that I can understand the characters well. So when I write scenes for my characters, I try to know everything about them.

  • He is fond of Hindi poetry and is also fond of writing poetry. In an interview he said
