In 2023 there were reports that someone banned his original Instagram account. She contacted the hacker, thinking he was an official Instagram representative, and asked him to unban her account. She didn’t know he was not affiliated with Instagram. The hacker agreed to unblock her account if she paid him Rs 25,000. She managed to collect the money and got her account unblocked. However, a few months later, his account was banned again. She reached out to the same hacker, who told her that her account had been banned by international authorities because she posted inappropriate content. He said he would charge $250 to $400 to unblock her account. Shahu did not have that much money, so the hacker made a request. In exchange for unblocking her account, he asked her to send him nude photos and videos. Sahu was unsure about this and consulted a male friend of hers, whom some media sources claim was her boyfriend. In an interview, the friend said he immediately advised her not to share nude photos, because of the risk of hackers sharing them online. Sahu, however, did not listen to his friend’s advice and sent her nude pictures and videos to the hacker. As his friend said, the hacker shared the explicit content on social media and it went viral. Sahu got stressed and asked her friend to help her delete the content from social media and even shared her pictures and videos with her male friend. His father also came to know about the viral photo and video and opposed Shahu. He claimed that the media files were created by artificial intelligence (AI) and not his own. Angered by the situation, her father went to the local police station to lodge a complaint against the person who made the content viral. Initially Shahu’s friend was blamed and the police decided to act against him. However, when Sahu’s father angrily spoke to his friend, he denied any involvement and provided screenshots of his chats with Sahu as evidence. Further investigation revealed that the friend was telling the truth. Some media sources reported that Sahu, frustrated with the situation, attempted suicide and was admitted to a hospital in Odisha. Another theory circulating in the media suggested that Shahu’s boyfriend was the person who leaked her private videos and pictures that she had sent to him during their private chats. Eventually, the local police registered a case against the person who leaked her pictures and videos under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
